 A faculty member of Neonatal Mashhad University of Medical Sciences announced the birth of a 900-gram neonate with the Covid-19 virus at the Imam Reza hospital of Mashhad city in Razavi Khorasan province in northeastern Iran.

Dr. Ahmad Shah Farhat said in an interview with Web da: The infant was born to a mother suspected of Covid-19 and is currently admitted to the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

He said: Due to the mother's suspicion of coronavirus, After the birth infant, tests were taken and the result was declared positive.

The infant had respiratory problems within the first 24 hours of birth but had normal breathing after 24 hours of birth without using the device.

Dr. Ahmad Shah Farhat said: "This is the first baby weighing 900 grams to be diagnosed with Covid-19 in the world and we hope it will be Healthy delivered to the family with the help of our medical team.
