The Department of Open Heart Surgery of the Charity Hospital of Imam Zaman, was opened with the attendance of the Governor of Khorasan Razavi, head of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, and some benefactors. According to WEBDA, directing manager of Imam Zaman Hospital of Mashhad said: “The cardiac surgery department of the hospital has been created in an 800 m² area with 15 beds, including angiography services, cardiac surgery, and ICU.”
He noted: “In the past, patients admitted to the CCU of this hospital for heart surgery were transferred to other hospitals. Now with the opening of the cardiac surgery department, the problem of providing services to heart patients in this area has been resolved.” He said: “With the opening of the cardiac surgery department of Imam Zaman Hospital in Mashhad, the number of beds in this hospital, which now has been active for thirty years, has grown from 175 beds to 190 beds.”
Khadem al-Khamseh continued: "Imam Zaman Hospital has been selected for the seventh consecutive year by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education as grade one, and 2,000 patients are admitted to the hospital on an inpatient and outpatient basis per day.” Managing director of Imam Zaman Hospital mentioned lack of brain surgery department as one of the shortcomings of the hospital, which will be created by the efforts of the benefactors and the assistance of the authorities in the future.
